About
I’m Maceo, a 19-year-old engineering student at Northwestern. I built Dialed In so my brother, our cousin and I could keep chasing a better cup together after I left home for college.
Weighing, grinding, pulling a shot and tasting what changed. For me it’s part science, part meditation.
Dialing in a stubborn new bag, and practicing latte art until the pour finally looks right.
Trading brew methods and recipes, and sharing a cappuccino with friends while the world goes by.
My dad loved coffee, and I grew up watching him make it every morning. My brother Julian, our cousin and I were hooked as soon as we were old enough to drink it. Years later I inherited his espresso machine, and a habit turned into an obsession.
The three of us talked coffee constantly: beans, ratios, pour overs, the shot that finally tasted right. Then I left Cincinnati for Northwestern, and those conversations mostly went quiet. I missed them more than I expected.
So I built a coffee log for the three of us. It was basic and janky at first, but data-driven from day one: every dose, yield, time and grind, every tasting note. It quickly became our daily touch point. We’d log our shots, compare notes, and text each other about what to try next, and about what the app should do next. Photos, comments, likes and graphs followed.
It kept us close while I was far from home. Now I want to share it with anyone who loves coffee: a better cup, and people to chase it with.
Stop guessing. Start dialing in.
